Art from a Tea Cup......with Cecelia Rappaport

Looking around in all my stuff, I came across a box I made many years ago.
It was covered in red fabric with a starched-stiff teacup affixed to the top of the lid.

Inside the box I found information on Meret Oppenheimhttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Méret_Oppenheim
She was a surrealist born on October 6, 1913, over 103 years ago.
Her fur-covered teacup, saucer and spoon, entitled  “Object” (Breakfast in Fur) was the first piece of her art that the Museum of Modern Art acquired, making Oppenheim the First Lady of MoMA.

Here are two important facts I learned today.  Meret Oppenheim and Cecelia Rappaport share the same birthday and we both found the time to create Art from a Teacup!!!!

Create art and enjoy your day!!!!!!

There are all different phases and levels of the creative process.....with Cecelia Rappaport

There are all different phases and levels of the creative process..

I genuinely googled that and found a wealth of information :

In this writing, I am talking about my creative process when building a house or renovating one of our pre-existing homes. Creating newness in a space is where it's at for me.

Brian Peter George St. Baptiste de la Salle Eno said "It's not the destination that matters. It's the change of scene".

No sooner than updating a space, I find I am ready to update it again, of course, each time entirely and completely differently. This act of creating can, singlehandedly, unravel my husband. I have seen him go numb, stare blankly into space for long hours, stutter his words, take more walks than usual, throw himself into Sudoku, Solataire or a new t.v. Series, sports game or political debate -- anything to escape my chatter about change as I move from one room to the next.

By the way, he also creates---just differently and differences are good in a marriage. Remember Yin/Yang!! He uses his creative energy to make money. It turns out that I probably use my creative energy to spend money.

Regardless, I decided to surprise my kind, caring, devoted, logical, mathematician-like, loving husband one day. I took him for a little 4-hour jaunt up the coast of CA to visit San Simeon to see the Hearst Castle. Do you think that he possibly realized what I was up to?

http://hearstcastle.org

It must be duly noted that the changes I have made in all the homes we have lived in or the change orders submitted during the building phases are "nothing" in comparison to what William Hearst did when building his Castle.
He moved walls on the first floor ten feet on each end of the room to accommodate new tapestries and rebuilt his world famous pool three times.

Creating our living environment to be just right has made us happier (especially me) and has just possibly encouraged a longer life on our planet.  It certainly did for William Hearst who spent over 25 years working on his beloved castle.

"It's the "creative process", honey"! Did you hear the tour guide?"
William Hearst was not complete with the Castle at age 83!!!  He had more to do.
Just proof that the creative process can keep us active into our later years. This creative process is what it is all about.

So, I am continuing to create every day....and the best is yet to come!

Large Mixed Media Figurative Painting "In Search Of" by Cecelia Catherine Rappaport

60"x54" Mixed Media on Wood/Sold

Commissions are welcome.

This is a very special piece I painted while living in our house overlooking
the Red Rocks in Sedona,Az.
The creative process began when I chose two dominant paint colors from the surrounding
landscape and splashed them onto a watercolor pad.
As the paint was drying, I began to see many different forms taking shape.

Below is a photo of the art piece in the very beginning....

IMAGINATION AT WORK, with Cecelia Rappaport

“What is now proved was once only imagined.”

― William Blake

I read that creating requires that something be envisioned before it can be caused. It is called the Hellenic Imagination named after Prometheus, the Greek god, credited with the discovery of the magical power of being able to imagine the future by projecting a horizon of possibilities.

I am continually intrigued by my imagination…what evokes our inspiration?

Whatever those emotions are--ones that evoke happy or ones that vibrate sad--there is no doubt a  longing for me to translate this energy to a painting.  I just have to quickly get to my canvas before I lose it:)

Traveling the I-10 in Los Angeles, I see the tall lanky palm trees swaying in the sun looking, to me, like lollipops.  I imagine reaching out and plucking from the planet, tasting the sweetness and having this surge of one happy emotion after another.

ah, to be original!!!! My imagination at work……….

NEGATIVE and POSITIVE SPACE…a new painting??? with Artist Cecelia Rappaport

"Thirty spokes meet in the hub, but the empty space between them is the essence of the wheel. Pots are formed from clay, but the empty space within it is the essence of the pot.
Walls with windows and doors form the house, but the empty space within it is the essence of the home." — LAO TSE

Over the years, I have accumulated quite the possessions, stuff and memories. Just categorizing everything in little labeled piles designated for greatness or the trash (whatever my mood deems appropriate at the time) has proved to bring me a great sense of accomplishment. And, really???? It took me this long to understand why Thursday Trash Pick-up Day made me exhilaratingly happy!!!! Yet, it totally makes sense to me (ha!) as it’s another little step moving to expand, freeing up my heart to express.

No more dragging my past odds and ends into my future space. No way! I am ready to create newly. Yesterday, I exchanged art notes with two “way-younger-than-me” artists and was quickly reminded that my positive life experiences (represented by the positive shapes) added to some empty freed-up space (the white negative shapes represented below) could just possibly create an interesting painting.
